The oxidizer is the core equipment of the formaldehyde production device. The design and manufacture of the oxidizer directly affects the quality of formaldehyde products, methanol consumption and the service life of the oxidizer, thereby indirectly affecting the economic benefits and safety of the enterprise. Although many newly-built formaldehyde plants have adopted the new process of tail gas circulation method, in order to improve the product market competitiveness, it is still necessary to further improve the process, especially the methanol oxidizer.
At present, the methanol oxidizer used in the formaldehyde plant mainly adopts two structures: an elliptical tube plate oxidation reactor and a butterfly tube plate oxidation reactor. Both the upper quenching section and the lower cooling section of the elliptical tube-plate oxidation reactor adopt an elliptical tube-sheet structure in which the middle of the upper tube sheet is convex and the middle of the lower tube sheet is concave, and the thickness of the tube sheet is 8-10mm. The temperature of the tube sheet in the quench section can be kept below 400°C. The steam generated in the quench section is led out by the central duct, and the inert gas is not easy to stay. However, due to the many blind areas around, the high temperature gas after the reaction cannot be cooled in time, which is easy to cause side effects. The reaction often affects the quality of the product and the consumption of raw methanol.
